For the second consecutive year, Frontiers North Adventures has been honoured at the Travel Manitoba Tourism Awards banquet. Last year we were bestowed the Ecotourism Award. This year we've been awarded the Sustainable Tourism Award.

Douglas Waldman, a 2005 Frontiers North guest at the Tundra Buggy Lodge, is a high school teacher at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Doug earned a grant from Eli Lilly to travel to Churchill and conduct a videoconference from the remote Tundra Buggy Lodge back to his class in Indiana.

After witnessing firsthand our daily routines and practices on the tundra, Doug nominated us for Travel Manitoba's Sustainable Tourism Award.

The Sustainable Tourism Award recognizes excellence in the delivery of a product or service that effectively demonstrates sustainable tourism practices.

On Thursday, April 6th, 2006, at a gala banquet in Winnipeg, Manitoba, we proudly accepted this important award from Travel Manitoba. As the number one polar bear safari company in the world, we at Frontiers North are proud of our Commitment to Conservation. Click the links to read about the initiatives in which we’re involved that generate conservation awareness about polar bears and the subarctic environment in which they live.

It was a big night for the town of Churchill with Kayak Churchill, Wapusk Adventures/Blue Sky Expeditions and Frontiers North winning Aspiring Youth Award, Aboriginal Tourism Award and Sustainable Tourism award (respectively).
