PBI Tundra Connections

With the goal of generating awareness about polar bears and their subarctic environment, PBI Tundra Connections, cosponsored by Polar Bears International and Frontiers North's Tundra Buggy Adventure, each fall links polar bear researchers on the Tundra Buggy Lodge with students all over the world.

Tundra Connections provides students the opportunity to communicate and learn in real-time about current issues affecting polar bears, their subarctic environment and how the community of Churchill factors into the situation.

On Buggy One, a Tundra Buggy we've custom built for educational outreach, we host PBI Scientific and Education Advisory Council members, top polar bear scientists and zoologists to conduct live webcasts and videoconferences with students at zoos and educational institutions all over the world. In 2008 these events were hosted by Apple Inc. and raised awareness on the plight of the polar bears, climate change issues affecting the area, and promoted actions that can be taken on local levels to improve and sustain the polar bears' habitat.
