Jerry enlisted with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in 1960. After training he was stationed in Manitoba, spending 25 years at detachments in Norway House, Gillam, Thompson, Berens River, Lac Du Bonnet and was the non-commissioned officer in charge of the Churchill detachment from 1976 to 1978.
In the position of staff sergeant, Jerry retired from the RCMP in 1985. He then immediately commenced his second career as a corporate security officer for a large bank, retiring in 2000.
Jerry has had a life-long interest in the outdoors and is an avid wildlife photographer. During his Churchill posting with the RCMP, he concentrated on capturing images of the polar bears in the region. He commenced guiding Tundra Buggy adventures for Merv and Lynda Gunter in 2001. Jerry finds satisfaction in assisting all guests, ensuring that their adventure in Churchill provides the utmost opportunities to view, photograph the wildlife and to learn about the area.
